Datura on Mosaïque playlist

Listen to Justina’s composition "Datura," performed by the trombone player Mathilde Comoy, is now featured on the ensemble Ars Nova playlist 🔹MOSAÏQUE🔹 YouTube channel. This project commissions 1 composer to write around 1 minute composition for 1 musician.

Program note

Datura is a plant commonly known as Devil's Trumpet due to its toxicity and the shape of its flowers. The composition draws inspiration from the ritualistic use of the plant and explores the contrast between two different states attributed to its substances: excitement, visions, and delirium (atropine) versus numbness, loss of resistance, and will (scopolamine). The trombone player not only performs but also sings and recites botanical information.
